  1. Change the lock to a deadbolt style

They will know what you mean at the hardware store.

  2. Hammer five or six finish nails into the door stop molding.  The door stop molding is the wooden strip that the door lays against when it is closed.  The nails should be driven in the area in line with the door latch.  Space the nails within 1/4" of one another in a staight vertical line.  The nails will prevent the knife from going towards the bolt.

  3. If the frame and door are sturdy then a better lock should stop them. New locks have 2 pieces that come out the side of the door: a piece with an angle to it and a small piece shaped like half of a rod. the smaller piece keeps the lock from being jimmied with a knife, etc. Go to a hardware store and ask. they will know!

  4. You need a deadbolt style instead. A dead bolt one has a solid metal bar that goes deeper into the jam and it can not be pried back into the lock like people are doing now with a knife, credit card, etc.  You'll have to make sure that the hole in the door frame is deep enough for a deadbolt kind, but it will keep people out as long as there are no hinges on the outside of the door! They could take the pins out and get in, but most likely the hinges are inside not outside your door. Good luck at the hardware store, I am sure they will help you.

  5. ok what u need to do is go out to ur local orhards or osh and and tell them ur problem opps that helps
