My guinea pig has something wrong with his feet.. on his back paws there are very big calluses and his ankles/ wrist are very swollen. Hes walking funny and basically hopping. Hes more lazy then he usually is and today i looked at his eyes and there was discharge, or tears. He seems to be eating fine, plenty of food, vitamin C water, timothy hay, and carrots. But he seems to no longer like his favorite treat, apples. His p**p seemed a little watery and off colored too. whats wrong with my poor little piggie?

  1. I don't know about guinea pigs, but I do know bunnies can get calluses and swollen hocks if they have a wire bottomed cage, it causes too much stress on the feet, because they don't have pads on their feet like dogs do (bunnies, I don't know if piggies do or not). But that is at least one idea to look at, but please take him to a vet that treats small animals quickly. Not all vets treat animals other than dogs and cats, so if you don't know of one that does, start looking!

  2. consult the vet if you haven't already.

  3. Your pig probably has swollen hocks which is caused by standing on a wire bottom cage. You can buy plastic covers that will snap over the wire protecting his/her little feet. Make sure you keep the feet very clean wash them off while healing and alittle bag balm on the bottom will help heal it up
