I have an ipod nano 4gb. which is supposed to hold up to 1,000 songs, however mine will only hold under 300. ok when you plug your ipod into your computer it shows you what it's filled up with (Audio, Other, and free space) well my other is filled up way higher that it should be and their is nothing on the flash drive part of my ipod, so it says my ipod has no room but it does because the 'other' isnt there, idk what to do, can anyone help me? Ive tried restarting my ipod and restoring its memory but nothing works.

  1. If performing a restore doesn't work. Then you may have a firmware/hardware issue. Call us at 1-800-275-2273 to troubleshoot it more thoroughly or set up a repair. Your song file may be larger than normal, or you could have some videos on it. Call us.

  2. if you have pics along with ur songs..it takes up space. or if u have lyrics that could be it too..little things take up extra space

  3. idk

  4. i have an 8g and it only hold about 1,200 songs

i guess since u have an 4g it cant hold as much

idk who told u that but they were wrong

4g isnt that much it...idk wat u can do except

call apple or make sure u have a warranty on that

    thing

  5. if you dropped it, then that might be the problem. you should go to an apple store and ask about it.

  6. It was Made by APPLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. If I were you I'd check out Apple's website. They've got to have some troubleshooting or support section on their site. Maybe they can diagnose the problem that way. Try this: http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_r...

Also, I know of a place that actually repairs iPods if it comes to that. They are www.irepairsquad.com

  8. Songs very with time, my nano said it would hold a said number amount of songs too and it didn't. You're not the only one, it's how Apple suckers you into buying their products. lol

  9. Your ipod is broken.

  10. are you keeping track of the bitrate on your songs? the estimation of 1000 songs on your ipod is based off of a 128/kbps standard format for your songs (each song clocking in at approx. 4 minutes). The bitrate of your music determines how much room each song takes. Unfortunately to hold more music you'll have to take a hit to the sound quality and convert the songs. Open up itunes and get the bitrate to show up top gray bar then click on it to bring up your highest bitrate songs and convert appropriately.

  11. you may have some data in the flash part of the memory that you can't see. i would look further into it or call apple support. i do know that apple ipods come with a year or two warranty so if you cannot fix this problem, you can talk with apple support and send it in. another thing is that you may have some song types that aren't compressed and they can take up a lot of memory. i hope this helps. and the number for apple support is, 1-800-MY-APPLE

if that doesn't work, go to this site and it should help you out. if it doesn't then look on some other user discussions.

i hope this helps you! if this doesn't, let me know and i will see what i can do :)

  12. take it in to the pros....

they will either tell you what's wrong or give you a refund.

if you bought a 4gb ipod that should hold 1000 songs...then you should have one.

  13. Go to the Apple Store or call 1-800-MYAPPLE and they'll probably send you a new one for free if there's something wrong with your iPod.
