Ive just moved into a new house where unfortunatly all the garden is paved so all my plants are in containers and with most of them the foliage is turning yellow, my sweet peas are flowering but all the lower leaves are turning yellow, ive got a wisteria and some of the leaves are yellow on that too, same with the shrubs. I live in south devon in england where the weather has not been great so i dont know if its not enough water or feed or if its too much.Ive got absoloutly no experience with containers.

  1. They need lots of sun and lots of water .....

Uhm. thats all i know about plants.

  2. In containers you need to first of all make sure you have holes in the bottom for proper drainage..and here is one of the most reasonable cause for this is the potting soil or soil medium that you use...I have seen so much of this cheaper topsoil and potting soil in the bag  gets so dense after watering a couple of times that the water will not  drain and it literaly smother your roots..the roots need air too and if the soil gets so dense that it literaly holds water..it is smothering the roots thus causing the yellowing..they can eventually die..When you water your potted plants..does the water seem to stand on top for awhile after you water? The soil must have the water soak in immediately when watering and not stand..if you see the water is standing..then it is a soil density problem..buy a better grade soil and not the cheap bags and reopot the plants....

  3. Um, I'm not very experienced in botany, or flowers, but I think that your plants need air... I'd suggest moving them to different planters, where the soil gets plenty of air, and watering until the soil is moist, once a day, is enough, I think...  I'm just thinking that the roots or something are being suffocated...
