Whats wrong with my speakers?

they sound like air is being left out. but all other sounds are normal, but this sound as if "air is leaking out" continuously continues. i have altec lansing 2 in 1 speakers

  1. your gain is too high. Youre hearing the static/interference in the line.

    Solution: turn down the volume on the speakers and raise it on  your computer/sound card/ application. you can also turn down your speakers when youre not actively listening to them so you dont hear the hum.


  2. You have "hiss" which usually means a faulty or rubbish pre-amp.

  3. I got my first Altec-Lansing set 36 yrs ago.  If I understood your question better, Perhaps I could answer with something real.  Basically though, this soumds like a quality control issue with the manufacturer.  They are best equipped to help you given its their product.  try to look them up on the web and get in a call to tech support.  I'm sure you can find the site.

    It doesn't matter how you came by the speakers, If they are doing a good job, they will want to support their product.
