My router just stopped working today. I got on the internet by bypassing the router and running straight through the modem. Anyways, its a wireless 4 port router model BEFW1154 v. 2. It's probably around 3 or 4 years old now. When the router is on, in the WAN column, the act and diag are showing red. None of the wireless computers in the house can connect to it and neither can my computer thats connected through the ethernet. Everything is connected properly and I've tried restarting it numerous times, till I finally just decided to disconnect it for now.PLease helpp

  1. I have this problem.

We called our company they told us to do something.

Call the company and they will tell you.

  2. I've used Linksys for a long time, they have their problems. I'd completely reset the router (there is a button on the back somewhere). If that doesn't work, it sounds like you might need a new one. They are only about $50 and going through one every 3 years or so isn't too bad.

    Best.

  3. Try doing a HARD RESET, most models will reset if you hold down the reset switch on the back for more than 30 seconds (other models are different). If the light is still red after the hard reset, then your router is defective. Over the counter routers that sell for under $60 are considered disposable because of their low cost.

If the light is red on the router, don't waste your time on the computer trying to fix it. the router won't interact with a PC if any lights are red.

  4. I wish i could help you, but i'm actually having the exact same problem!   Although my linksys router is only a month old.  So frustrating!

  5. sorry but its linksys, thats the prob. its not the most reliable brand.... :(
