I have heard that most work places dont allow open toed shoes. Does anyone know why? If its because they arent professional enough why is this? Ive seen lots of open toed professional looking shoes. Is it because feet are too "s**y" for the work place? If so i dont understand why that is bc i guess to me feet are gross(i have a major foot phobia lol). Now i can understand in a place like a manufactering company bc stuff can fall on your foot but what about an office? Why are open toed shoes banned from offices?

  1. some places just dont think it's professional because many girls paint their toenails exotic colors, or get manicures with palm trees or rhinestones.

It helps maintain a professional atmosphere is all.

  2. Some places have what's called a dress code. You either conform or stay away.

  3. I am a VP at a fairly large engineering firm and have major input on policies.  We allow our female office staff to wear open toe shoes, and in the summer about one half do.  In cold weather months, it falls to about 10%.  One reason that we allow this, my feeling is that we allow it and leave it up to each individual woman as to what she wants to wear.  No one has abused this, all open toe shoes are in good taste and the visible portion of the feet is attractive.    Personally, I have one leg and always wear a heel, open toe/sandal about one half of the time year-round with my crutches.  Some of our female staff has told me that they take their cue from myself and what I wear.

  4. It's actually a health code violation. Feet can carry germs and because they would be out in the open, they could easily be passed on.

  5. it's mainly a liability issue. A company does not want to get have workman's compensation claims filed for someone hurting themselves at work, so they require employees to wear closed toe shoes. Even in a office, just dropping something small (like a stapler) can cause an injury to the toes.

  6. no one wants to see your feet....it looks good to you but remember, there are people who don't like feet, I had a friend who hated even looking at someones toes....I don't like flipflops on people....

Remember, just because you like your toes, doesn't mean everyone else does.....
