we have a large red tail boa. she is about 8 feet long and very muscular with good build. we were told it was a female but are not 100% sure. after a few days of having her we noticed a large "bubble" near the vent area. appears swollen but does not appear to bother her any. it is quite soft and does not discharge anything. no discoloration at all. we took her to a reptile breeder friend and he says he has never seen it before. any idea?

  1. get it probed by a proffesional. to be honest it is probably a bad thing like a hurnia or something.

  2. i know you probly have thaught of this but you really should think about taking her to a vet. it could be a number of things, i have never heard of it so i cant say what i think it is, but yea have it checked out :)i know i probly didnt help much but hopefully i did!! gooooood luck! :))

  3. I have seen it a few times and if it is the same thing I saw, it is just a fat pocket and is nothing abnormal. The first time I saw it I was worried also since it looked unusual. And at 8 feet, there's a good chance your boa is a female.
