  3. I think you should name her LaQuesha Louise Oceana

  4. It's very different, and would probably take some getting used to.

  5. Honestly, it is pretty, but it makes me think of the airplane on Lost.  When I had my son, I wanted something different too, but we were realistic and tried it on for size...this means we sit down and tried to figure out how he would honestly feel about it as a kid in school and an adult, as well as thinking of any and every possible way kids could make fun of it...cause as we all know  kids can be mean.  Good luck and congratulations!

  6. i'm not trying to be mean but if i had only time to interview 3-4 people for a job with 5-6 applicants and another one of these "original" names was in the pile i would just skip over it.  yes it's wrong but that's life.  most people (not all and i know this) that have ridiculous made up names are not taken seriously.  they typically come from underage parents and people from the "lower" social classes. yes i know this is elitist sounding but again it's the facts of life. and for the record i'm not talking about a job interview at a record store or starbucks, i'm talking about a high end job.  i know this sounds mean but there it is

  7. its kinda pretty but think about when shes like 40 years old. thats not such a good name for her. its better for a younger girl

  8. Oceana? hmmmm interesting for the most part but as a middle name. Find a semi-normal name for the first name. think about her life and what shed have to deal with..... Another one that i like that is sort of related would be Tierra which means earth.... Oceana Tierra - Tierra Oceana?

  9. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that name.  It's beautiful!  Disregard people's mean comments.  They see that you're a teen mom and feel you're an easy target to make fun of.  They're jerks who suffer from low self esteem, so ignore them.

  10. It's unusual, but sounds really pretty! You might want to think about if that might be a name she'd get teased for, but with all the different cultures you hear a lot of of unusual names so it probably wouldn't be a problem. I really like it though!

  11. OMG it sounds really pretty!

    Seriously!

And i'm glaad you don't wanna make it a

    boring name!

Anyway i hope you choose that name 'cos its really pretty,

and i hope she's really cute! (Which she will be! Duh!)

    Bye, and Good Luck!!!!!!!!

  12. I think the name may neep to have the spelling changed a little bit O - Shaw-na is wat i saw when i first looked

  13. Thats a beautiful and original name

  14. Its fine! Honestly!

    Its very beautiful and original.

    :)

  15. Wow, I expected some weird name, when I clicked on this, but I have to say that I really think Oceana is a beautiful name!  Good for you for keeping your baby,,,,,,,,,hang in there.

  16. Why are you getting so worked up? If you truly believe this is the right name for your child, why should our opinions even matter?

I personally hate it, I think it's foul.

Don't ask if you can't handle negative opinions. Jesus.

Also, if YOUR getting negativity about it now, think about what your poor child will have to endure in the future.

P.S Oceana can be said many ways, just because some people didn't understand how to read it, it doesn't make us dumb.

Means you should re-think what your child is going to get all through there lifetime.

  17. no dought she will get teassed in school and get called an ocean and i think its a ok name good if home schooled but i dont think its tha best name what about

                              Trilby  ( tril-be) or can be pronounced ( trili-be)

swidish - it means sweet little humming bird.

  18. that is an adorable name ive always liked unique names nd that one is going in my book lol when i make one

  19. Oceana is the largest international Ocean Protection & Restoration Environmental advocacy group dedicated to protecting and restoring the world's oceans

Well theres that. I think its pretty... but i really cant picture it as a kids name... i think it TOO "trendy" of a name...

you didnt mention a middle name.. i would (if your dead set on this name) give a bit more NON-Trendy middle name so they can ue that as a fall back..

If it was my name id hate it as i was/am a tomboy girl and it would have been to girly for me to like

honestly i say find something eles or use it as a middle name..

but thats me and shes not my baby.. Shes yours :) so if you want to its your right as a momma to name her what you please...

    Good luck to you :)

  20. It's hideous. Thats what I think.

Your going to report me for that, aren't you?

Seriously, don't ask if you aren't willing to get varied opinions, not everyone likes the name. Simple.

  21. Honestly, I think it's ghastly and your kid might cop some mocking.

    It's just....Ocean! It sounds tacky.

Sounds like your trying TOO hard for an unusual name, sorry, but it's my opinion, as your question asks.

Remember, your baby has to have this name forever.

Have you ever seen a lawyer named Oceana? A Surgeon?

Chances are no, but there's a good chance that busker on the street has a similar name..

Or the person at the deli requesting vegan tofu...

  22. It's your baby and you have every right as the mother to name her whatever name you want!

Oceana is a beautiful name, i've never heard of it to now, so I consider it very rare and I wish you every luck with delivering the baby :]

  23. I think it is a beautiful name. Personally Id pare it with a mor traditional middle name to make it unique and special without being too "out there". Like Oceana Marie, rather than somthing like Oceana Rhiannan. Good Luck and congrats.

  24. My sis in law wanted to name her daughter that but she ended up naming her Angelina instead. I think it is pretty! Congratulations on your baby!!

  25. I think it young, original and beautiful!

Good luck with the Wee-One! :)

    V.

  26. Well you always have to take into consideration the child and the name and what the name may or may not rhyme with as in the early years some children tend to be rude or bullies and tease others about their names by rhyming stupid things with the name and saying it over and over and others may join in if it sounds funny enough to the other little kids. So just think about that when deciding on a name. So for instance on your name sounding like "Oh-she-ana", some could say things like Oh-she-ana smells like a banana or Oh-she-ana sits on a banana etc.

Personally I like the name too but I just don't know if I would want to trust naming my child that and hoping that no mean kids over the years might think of the rhyme and tease with it.

Anyway, congrats on the new born.

    James

  27. Dumbest name I've ever heard of. Baby names are getting more and more ridiculous every year. Don't parents realize these kids have to live with these names forever.... why don't you just name her C**t-or-us

  28. Its a nice name, sounds different, but in a good way. If that's what you wanna name her then go for it.

  29. Beautiful and Unique

she might have trouble with mispronunciations though.

  30. Its beautiful.. I preferably wouldn't name my child that, but I still think it is a beautiful name.. and I think it is a veryy good idea.

    ;)

  31. It is a pretty name but I'm sure that alot of people who hear it are going to think of the Oceana group that does ocean conservation work.
