Whats wrong with the gas gauge?

My sister has a 1999 plymouth voyager...every other time she gets in the vehicle while shes driving the gas gauge will drop to empty then after a while it will go back up....why is it doing this?im me if you can help(yahoo) maldonado779

the sending unit for the gas float is malfunctioning.take it to a shop and have it tested.it may only be a loose wire or something simple like that.

sounds like a bad ground.

It sounds like there's a short or bad conection in the wire between the gage and the gas tank.
