Some people are silly I guess, it was fun for a minute to have all those silly superstitions my mom had me believing before I knew better.Black cats, walking under a ladder, break a mirror and have 7 years of bad luck, don't open an umbrella in a building of any kind, if two people are walking together and they come upon a pole, they can't split in two directions and each take a side of the pole, they have to go around the same side of the pole together and say "salt and pepper" and the famous number 13 being such bad luck. The only ones I haven't been able to laugh at are "shoes on a table" I don't care where I'm at what I'm doing I can not be in a room that has shoes on a table....I will usually remove them where ever I may be...if I can't I will leave the room. SOOOOOOO SILLY. but all in fun. The other one is the pole one. Where in the world do these silly things start?

  18. It's number 13. You know, the old superstition of 13 being unlucky (for a variety of reasons).

    In many places in America you will find the floors go like this:

    1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15...

    NO floor 13.

    Even though technically level 14 is 13, people feel safer if it isn't called floor 13. I have even heard a lot of hotels leaving the 13th floor for laundry or some random task like that. Because people will specifically ask NOT to be put on the 13th.

    In China they do the same thing...except it's with another number, can't remember what it is though.

    EDIT: "The Druid" said that a lot of deaths would occur in construction of the 13th floor. Well, that's true as well. Heaps of buildings had odd things happen while building the 13th floor of a building. So that's also part of why it is unlucky.

  19. During the construction of high rise buildings, many accidents happened on the 13th floor.  Unexplained things, deaths and so on.  So they deemed the 13th floor unlucky.

  20. the myth of friday the 13th comes is explained in the da vinci code. some battle broke out that day, and hence it is considered unlucky. However there is nothing spiritual behind it. It is just a bad event that occurred on fri 13th that got carried forward.
