So i went to the pet store in town and they had lowerd the price of their young ferrets to $50.00 and i had allready wanted one before that for a playmate for my other ferret... anyway we asked why so cheap and the lady was like "because their from h**l, their vicious" so we thought it was nothing and asked for her to open the glass up so we could open the cage, so we did so and they all came chargeing at us vicously biteing and ripping my boyfriends hand up. I've delt with pissed off ferrets, but never in my life have i saw 30 pissed off enraged vicous ferrets. I just dont get it, why??? what happend?? why are they like that??? was it just a bad 3-4 litters? do they have a disease???? why could they be so vicous? we tried putting one back into the cage and we had to wear gloves and use my hoodie to throw them in because they were latching on and ripping my boyfriends hand up, they cut him open pretty good and he was bleeding, he poured alcohol on it after words.. i hope he didnt contract anything... but my question is why are they like this? why did they come into the store semi-vicious and grow into ferrets from h**l???

  1. Ditto the above. They may be sick but likely came from a breeding mill and were not treated right.

  2. Depends. 10 to 1 they are Marshalls. First, Marshalls does have kids playing with their ferrets. When the fuzzies are transported to the stores, the store personnel do not handle or play with them. They are kept in a cage. I took one in, from a pet store, she was also a vicious biter, bit to draw blood. Now, she is very loveable, calm and playful. Now and then I have to remind her with a firm no not to bite hard. I also had to wear gloves for about a week. My ferrets are free roam, and I believe this makes a big difference. When a ferret is caged and ignored that can become very nasty.

  3. they were probably treated poorly by the breeder, mistreated and tossled on the journey to the pet store, and aren't properly taken care of at the pet store.

pet stores (and breeders) often put too many animals in too small a space. take a look at petland; they have 2 puppies in cages that aren't even big enough for one.

just like humans would get pissed off if they were handled with less than gentle care and forced to live in a tight space with 20 other people, animals react this way as well.

take one ferret home, give it a lot of space to itself, feed it regularly and give it things to exercise and play with. after a week or so it will calm down and probably be a lot nicer
