Whats wrong with this kitten

OK Before anyone goes off and starts saying I need to take the kitten to the vet I know, Im taking it tomorrow Ive already called the office.

Im just wondering about something.

I found a litter of kittens, about 6 weeks-7 weeks old is my guess. All of them are healthy except one. Shes so much smaller than the others, kind of cross eyed, shakes her head in circles when she walks, and something seems wrong with the development of the bones in her hind legs....almost like she was born without joints. Other than that shes fine, eats fine, walks funny but still is quite active.

Because her eyes are crossed and her head shakes I thought she may be blind but she plays with string when she sees it so I know she isn't.

does anyone have a suggestion as to what might be wrong with her?

  1. possibly cerebral palsy, I have seen this almost exactly type of problem description in Kansas city at a breeders. He is still alive and doing well, but after a few years his eye sight got worse. Roy

  2. She might be the runt and she might have some kind of birth defect. It doesn't sound like anything else. It could be an injury, but it sounds like her walking is a result of a birth defect and her eyes a result of some kind of brain issue.

Good luck with the litter and I hope theres nothing wrong with the little one.

  3. There's probably nothing wrong with her, she is most likely the runt of the litter, and dind't get as much nutrition from mom as the other babies. just keep her well fed, warm and dry, and get her checked out by the vet. Hopefully when she gets older, the cross eyed thing will fix itself
