This last weekend I was a roping, where I calfrope on occation. I just pulled the best time I have ever intentionaly tied. I tied a 7.8. For those of you who don't know thats fast. Infact I wont the jackpot, $300 bucks. I felt pretty good so I was wondering. Whats your best performance?

Mind you I'm not a "timey"(rodeo folks will understand), I'm a rough stock rider. My best bull ride was 91 point ride Wimberly Tx, my best saddle bronc ride was a 78, at the Rose Palace in San Antonio Tx.

Now its your turn.

  1. Hi there,

    Congratualtions!!!

Well my best was at a hunter show where my pony had some spirit and we did our equetation medal class and didnt place and then next was the hunter stake class. and i had already entered but i didnt know if i wanted to keep going and i was thinking about scratching. Well my coach said go for it you paid. So we go in do teh course of 12 jumps ( SOOO confusing took me 2 hours to remember it) he had refuesed one fance once and then later in the course we had to do it the other way  and he tried to refuse. But in the end we did place 3rd and won 25$ i was quite happy!

  2. well i don't do any of the above but i do do barrel racing and my family does cutting and camp drafting I don't know their times but mine on barrel was 14.7 sec and i only help train the cap drafters and cutters, it looks too dangerous for me to compete in on a timed level. but i have helped yard the cattle and my family and i are always somehow involved

  3. my old barrel horse who's now a pleasure horse got 14.3 seconds in barrel racing one time. But the arena was a bit smaller than the other ones.... but it was the 1st best time.

  4. Well that sounds pretty cool.. I really don't know what you just said, lol I'm kind of an idiot when it comes to rodeo but you sound like you've got it together.

I don't show often. Actually my last show was five years ago. I used to show primarily Western Pleasure, a few times Jumpers, and I was attempting to get into reining before I stopped showing all-together.  I've taken a break from that life-style to focus on other things.

  5. I earned all firsts in all 4 classes in my jumping division (over 2 ft. jumps), giving me Champion in the division. Mind you, it was 1st out of 2, but it was my first show that I rode my young, 5 y.o. QH mare in. I thought that was pretty good... Then again, I've showed many times on 2 different horses- I could have had more significant places that I don't remember at the moment. :)

  6. 34 seconds for a team penning.

I'm not lying!!!  All three with the number 4 broke at one time down the rail.  We jumped on that like....'white on rice'.  It's still a 'local' legend!  Our friends like to bring it up...ya know...how that one shouldn't even count!

That was about 5 years ago...

*heh...if blood counts...my best bull ride was when my grandfather put me on a bull calf!  I was about 5 and wanted to 'play' too.  I so should have been a boy!  Busted my lips and nose, and got a black eye.  The real ranch hands treated me like I was a professional rodeo cowboy.  That was the BEST prize!  *For those that grew up around real cowboys...they'll understand the importance of being accepted by the hands*

  7. Went up against a Borba bull & lived to tell about it!!!

Actually it was a calf & NOT planned.  My cousin as rasing them & we had just separated the cows & calves.  I went to open the gate to the pasture to turn the calves out, heard a loud crash behind me & the little bugger was on me before I could get out of the corner.  Lucky for me he only weighed about 400 lbs. with little horns.  I was kicking & smacking & cussing, but he had me in the corner & thought it was fun.  I was bruised one one side where the bull was smashing into my hip & bruised on the other side where the bull smashed me into the gate post.  When he finally got tired of beating me up, I tunred around opened the gate & he went out.  Then I turned on my cousins who were sitting on the corral fence watching after cussing my head off at them, I ask them why they didn't warn me.  "We wanted to see what it would do."  Was all they said.

Now, this is the same cousin who I let talk me into being the barrel man while he ran a small pen of bucking bulls to see if they were going to be worth keeping.  Got my bell rung pretty good, because as a profeesional rodeo bullfishter, he kept the bulls on the barrel.  Had a knot on my noggin & my tummy was VERY upset from rolling all over the arena, but I NEVER threw up!!!! Like BB said, unless you know real cowboys, you don't know what it means to have their respect.  Especially when you are a girl!!

Had some well known pro cowboys of the day telling me I done good!!!  Almost made it worth it!  Almost!!!!  LOL!!!

  8. I barrel race and ride youth rodeo circuit, last weekend i got a 14.09 on my 5 yr old that i just finished training...pretty good huh?

  9. Well I sure 'nuf can't beat any of ya'll's time, but when I was about 10 years old our old holstein milk cow was laying down in the pasture and I thought "why not?" and climbed on.  Well that sweet ol' cow sure wasn't a riding cow and she got up with me clinging like mad to her boney back.  I didn't last too long and my 3 point landing was nothing to write home about, but I was pretty proud that I managed to miss all the cow pies in the pasture and was able to walk away from my big adventure.

  10. I barrel race and I've had some pretty dang good times, low 15's and even a 14.4 (had I not dq'd by knocking a barrel over) But by far my best feeling ride happened just a few weeks ago, let me give you a bit of history first and you'll understand. Back in 2005 my appy , Biscuit started bucking & threw me off and i landed on my lower back compressing 2 discs in it. I couldn't ride for like 2 months:( Well anyway this severly damaged my confidence. I was terrified for a LONG time to ride anything but a horse that had one foot in the grave and only knew how to walk....... I slowly strarted building my confidence back up then got pregnant...knock almost a yr off of riding  and in early 2008 I started back up again. Well 2 weeks ago one of my customers from the feed store I work at calls me up and sats "Heh (that's my nickname , my initials) I have a horse I want you to come ride tonight." So I grab my barrel saddle and boots and hea don over to saddle club. When I get there a gelding that is super cute and compact was tied to a trailer all alone. I get over to him and my friend/customer comes up and says " Now i'm gonna warn ya he's a bit of an ***..." I shrug it off and start to saddle him and he bites me quite a few times!!! Anyway I get him saddled up we walk away form the trailer he stops shudders and squeals the loudest squael I've ever heard.. odd.... as I cue him to walk off he lights into the biggest bucking fit ever. One hard enought I swear to rival a rodeo bronc. I ride it out and look at Terr and say "is this dang thing even broke" he grins and says yeah when he's not buckin he's a dang good barrel horse... we start off towards the aerna bucking on ocssion. We get to the gate the horse drops his head and wa;ks in like a freakin peanut roller pleasure horse.... i goose him into life and BAM we are off faster than all get out, we round the first barrel and I nearly get slung from the saddle I'm so unprepared for the force with which he turns it, the other 2 are like that. We finish in a 15.2  on a fairly large pattern.... as we are coming out of the ate the lil snot lights into a buckin fit again...... not a super super time but fast enough AND it helped me learn I COULD still ride something that was bucking and throwing a fit and I could do it well! I loved it!!! I consider that my best ride b/c with that ride I got my confidence back!!!

    Sorry so long
