  1. In the eyes of the world not a civil movie as such, but Mississippi Burning did it for me. watch it and you will know what i mean.

  2. The General by Buster Keaton

  3. Cold Mountain.

  4. Gettysburg is my favorite, although Glory is also good.  It does such a good job of showing not just the conflict but also the feelings of both sides as to why they are fighting as well as how they feel about fighting people who are friends and brothers.  The relationship between Gen. Armistead and Gen. Hancock is especially touching, especially since it is true.  It is made even more so if you actually go to the battlefield and see that Armistead was mortally wounded only a short distance from Hancock on the field (who was also wounded but survived).

  5. Cold Mountain

  6. Glory is a film to see before you die!

    It's Perfect!

  7. "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly"

Strictly speaking, not actually ABOUT the war, bu there is a very emotional moment where Clint Eastwood shares his smoke with a dying soldier that summarises the whole "War is h**l" kind of thing excellently.

  8. Gone With the Wind

    Other favorites are:

    Shenandoah

    Journey to Shiloh

    Friendly Persuasion

North & South (two TV miniseries)

  9. Shenadoah

  10. Glory or Cold Mountain

  11. Ride with the Devil:

  12. "Glory"  starring Morgan Freeman, and Denzel Washington..How can you go wrong??  It's a great movie about a unit most people know nothing about.
