  1. My opinion is the we are all born neutral with a healthy amount of selfishness in us. The selfishness is a tool for basic survival where looking out for number one is important. From there our interactions shape us and we will quickly learn that it's beneficial for us to share and be fair. However, there are exceptions those who don't learn for one reason or the other perhaps because of mental disabilities or because of bad role models. When we play after the rules of the community we live in we will be considered good, if we don't play by the rules we will be considered bad. So, society sets the rules for whats good or evil but we're all born neutral, IMO.

Why we are social creatures rather than solitary is something that I've never pondered before. =/ Perhaps it's because it's easier to survive when we work together. If we simplify it; it's easier to focus on growing one crop and then trade it for what else we need, than it is to grow all crops, raise all kinds of cattle, hunt, fish, and make every thing you need to live well and live well all by yourself. Because of that we need to interact with other people. Also working in groups makes the work easier and we can produce more of one thing and also create thing that we can't if we are alone.

Then the social aspect and getting along with others and social events becomes important to glue people together and make them better team workers.
