  1. Differences are ethnic.Georgians are Georgians, Abkhazs are Abkhazs, Ossetins are Ossetins and none of them is ethnic Russian.

Russia just gave Russian passports to separatists in those two regions to create the lame excuse for military invasion of Georgia. That's pretty much it.

Both regions seek not independence as some believe, but joining "mother Russia". They(separatists in Abkhaiza and S.O.) are smart enough to realize that in case they ask for independence for starters millions of dollars flowing from Russia for free will be gone.

Second, everyone on Caucasus remembers Chechnya, with its 300,000 dead civilian population during 2 Chechen wars. That is what happens to small republics when they ask for independence from Russia.

Historically, it was Russia who started separatists movements in those and other regions to weaken independent republics after USSR fell apart. Russia supplied arms, money and military support as well whenever separatists were about to get their butts kicked.

So, in the end Russia is Russia, doesn't matter who's in charge, Tzar, Commies, Eltsin's democrats or commie Putin, Russia still does the same thing it did for centuries, expanding and conquering, killing and robbing, threatening neighbors and invading small countries.

All that is done with very clumsy Russian propaganda support. Not sure why but Russia still thinks WW II cheap propaganda tricks are still good for today.

Which is why they use exactly same excuse to invade Georgia as Hitler used to invade Sudetenland, Czechs and Poland back in 1938-39 - to protect their citizens...

Blatant lies about genocide and 2000 dead civilians, when nobody has ever seen 2000 bodies in there and HRW and other independent sources report 44 casualties including military and civilians.

  2. My opinion is this. They can blow each other up to the other side of the world and it I will sleep safe. I never involve myself with others problems.

  3. Russia's government SUCK ***!!!

But the people of Russia seem nice though...

  4. Russia's nuclear threat is real.  The conventional Russian Army is in pathetic condition.  The Russian Navy and Air Force are worse than the army.

  5. the us missiles in poland are just 10 interceptors, they are defensive missiles with no warhead.Russia is trying to rebuild their empire and with the missiles excuse will invade poland and ukraine in the same way they invaded georgia. Now they know the US will not come

  6. i love russia

  7. Russia is just trying to be Russia. We think of security. But, that Russian word doesn't translate as "security". It's closer to "absence of danger". Russia lost 32 million people to German forces in two world wars fought in the 20th Century. So, looking west and seeing a military alliance (NATO) which includes Germany does not add to any feeling of an absence of danger. Little understanding is made of the word "Rodina". We think it means "country". But, it really embodies a belief that every square inch of Russian soil was personally blessed by God. So, defense of that soil is task one. Since the Russians believe that there are only two kinds of people in the world: Russians and "Cherno Zhopye" (black asses), they are concerned over dangers presented to Russians in what is called the "near abroad". Those nations and areas around Russia which contain ethnic Russian populations.

Communism is dead in Russia. But, one of the Bolshevik Era's legacies is that the infrastructure was built in such a way as to be centered on Moscow. Much as the fact that all roads led to Rome during the Roman Empire. So, in order to continue their commercial development, the former Soviet Socialist Republics must accept the reality of that infrastructure to grow and prosper on their own.

None of what I've written means that I agree with the bullying and militaristic adventures carried on in the Southern Caucasus region by the Russians. It's meant only to give you a perspective on the situation.

  8. NATO missile defense network is one of many violations of agreements forged during the Reagan administration. The situation, from Russia's perspective is like a vast Cuban missile crisis With Poland as NATO's proxy state to instigate nuclear exchange or at least ICBM launch, while the crisis in Georgia is a NATO attempt to consolidate the Caspian oil pipeline and provoke Russia on the side then spin it with the media and paint them as aggressors. WHY????

  9. They are using the logic of the Bush Administration regarding Georgia and the shield in Poland invigorates them.  Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice made huge errors regarding Putin and Medvedev and she is an expert on Soviet Union.

Do a Yahoo search on what you have read to include sources.  You decide if they are biased.

Russia will not threaten Poland.  In my opinion they may help Iraq as they did in the past with military hardware.

  10. Russia the country sucks, but I liked the people enough to marry one. She's a better American than any democrat I ever met and 10 times smarter.

South ossetia and Abkhazia are populated with Russians and yes they are Communist to their hearts. Living breathing parasites that cannot live without someone else feeding them.

Russia's nuclear capability is less than 1/4 th what it used to be with almost none of it up to date enough to be considered reliable. Missile defense will in a few short years render nuclear missiles obsolete. This is why the US offered it to Russia and exactly why they turned it down. Russia knows it's conventional forces stand no chance against the US. Without Nuclear capability they have no real threat of force beyond tiny little enclaves.
