  1. I've ridden the same longboard model and size Surftech and regular custom both for my Walden Magic model and my Greek Stylemaster.  The Surftech is cheaper and lighter, but feels a little strange to me.  My friends say the added buoyancy helps them on shorter boards.  Also, a Surftech longboard is a good bet if you don't want to get a new board every now and then when your board's nose gets trashed.

Some claim they catch waves easier but I don't really notice it that much at my regular beach break.  I did notice a big difference catching waves when I surfed the Greek Surftech at Trestles.  I could line the board up better on long sections plus it seemed very stable on the nose.

  2. I don't ride one but some if my friends do (both Surftechs) and they swear by them.   Durability was a big selling point.  They don't have to worry about dings getting them in and out of the car or going and out of the house.

They do say that they ride a little different though.  A little more buoyant and they flex a little differently.
