Whats your opinion on traveling back in time?

i say its impossible and never will happen. if it was possible the future would simply just go back in time an stop ALL bad things from happening like the holocaust ww1 civil war COUGHfreeing the slavesCOUGH and other stuff

I personally believe that it will never happen. We learn from our mistakes and become wiser.

I can hardly concentrate on the initial question because I'm taken aback at your audacity. Comparing freeing the slaves with the holocaust? What planet do you live on?

I'm still unable to come to terms with time travel. There are so many variables and paradoxes and "If someone had traveled back they'd have done this, or they could do this"

What makes you think someone is capable of changing all of those things? Maybe time cannot BE changed just because you go back, no matter what you try to do.

i think if there would be any time travelling machines we've had people coming from the future is'nt that reasonable

If you could travel back in time you may affect events that could prevent you from ever being born!  Little dumbass things that you change in the past can have big ramifications on the future.  

Who knows that the "slave's" life you save could inadvertently cause the death of George Washington or Thomas Edison or through some series of odd events catch an incurable disease that infects all of America and millions of people would die, a "slave" who would have simply been worked to death at an early age!

Suppose you were to go so far back in time that you could observe dinosaurs, by accident or intention you kill an animal - that animal you kill could have had an affect that delayed or prevented the creation of mankind as we know it!   Perhaps we would not be descended from apes and our lineage comes from lizards or birds????   Who knows!

Going back in the past is extremely dangerous for our present era, our very existence as a sentient life form could be forever altered!  

(Now, if I could go back in time I would want the time period to be only 1 or 2 days - primarily so that, being armed with the winning lottery number, I could play that number and become multi-million dollar winner overnight! )
