  1. Hmm,

fighting forms,... Kempo and Kung Fu are great but I suggest you take a karate course. If you were to take a karate course you would enable yourself to learn basic skills such as, punches, kicks, and blocks.

More specifically, front kick, side kick, roundhouse kick, flying front kick, reverse punch, high lean punch, low lean punch, nagashazuki, tobikomazuki, high block, low block, inside block, and outside block.. Plus many more techniques.

    :)

  2. All depends on what you are looking to do. If you are looking to train for and fight in the octogon or a ring, then a combination of Muay Thai and BJJ will probabl;y be good.

Looking for just self defense learned quickly? Probably one of the reality based system's or Krav Maga are excellent choices, however many that are taught in America have been watered down.

Contrary to what Jeremy and ampman have said, there are far many more styles then what they list that are effective if done right. Not to say the styles they mention are not good, but understand that for many people now days, especially if they don't train themselves, who's only exposure to martial arts is watching the UFC, if it is not used in the UFC it is worthless, which is not the case.

I have trained for 18 years, almost 19, and have met many very competint people from all different styles. A style will not fight for you. It is only a tool that will only be as useful as how well you are taught, and how well you train.

Looking for a lifetime of study, along with good self defense? Almost any traditional style that is taught and trained well is a good choice.

  3. I don't know about necessary. I'd say everyone should know some basic self defense techniques. It doesn't really matter what style they're are drawn from.

As far as basic styles, you can't really go wrong with boxing. It's simple. Relatively easy to pick up, and remarkably effective.

  4. Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.  Throw in some self defense.

  5. If you want the perfect style for protecting yourself on the streets and becoming one bad motha, study Muay Thai.

some other good styles are Judo, Jiu Jitsu, Kraav Maga, Kickboxing, and for something fun Capoeira.

  6. what i use is called "talk **** i knock yo *** out" learn that one
