a few Scientific theories suggest in 2012 the earth will stop spinning then change direction, creating tital waves, earthquakes, floodes in short earth disaster. Others believe it will be the end of the world...Whats your opinion

  1. This is based of what, exactly?  Anything more scientific than the fact that the Mayan calendar hasn't been calculated past then yet?

  2. This question is starting to be asked daily. There is no 'scientific theory'. It's all hogwash. Nonsense. Won't happen. You can't offer one single shred of proof to support it - Mayan calendars, galactic plane crossings, etc. are not 'proof'. Anyone who believes it is lacking in critical facilities and thinks YouTube is the repository of all Human knowledge.

That's my opinion, as you asked. If you disagree, I'd LOVE to hear why.

  3. The notion that any natural magnetic influence between planetary bodies in the solar system will outweigh gravity or angular momentum is not scientific.  Those forces are many of orders of magnitude different.  My opinion is that the 2012 nonsense is a way for certian people to get on television, sell a few books, and basically grab attention.

  4. I heard 'Planet X' Will destroy us all. I think i like your idea better...

But no, i don't think it will end. It may get warmer, or colder. But alas, life will go on.

  5. It is not scientific. No problem was observed on the rotation of the earth, on Day & night, duration time, on 4 Seasons...etc all are going on with out error

What ever will happen don’t stop work (changing our planet to a better living area)

In religious approach 4 years is too much to effort for heaven.

  6. What is it like to have three-inch synapses?

  7. my parents told me they were talking about this in way back because they didn't exactly know about the technology that the space research could help us with. my guess is that the end of the world won't happen because by that time we might even have a new home in space or something. depends how we spend our years of research and our money.

  8. Sorry, but I'm not aware of any "scientific theories", so far I have only seen stupid claims

  9. I do not know of any scientific theory that suggests anything of the kind.  I don't know what your sources are, but they are just giving you magnetic pull***t.

  10. The sun is expected to reverse it's magnetic pole in 2012 just as it did in 2001. (Note, the sun operates on an 11 year cycle)

The earth's magnetic pole has changed direction many times throughout history.  That doesn't mean it changes direction of spin.  Don't worry, the simple law of Inertia will ensure that it keeps spinning the same direction it does now.  When the earth's poles shift, there will be a period when the magnetic field will not protect us from cosmic radiation as it does now.  That will not be in 2012, but when it does happen, we will need a lot of sunscreen.

  11. yeah, I heard this story about this guy that fired a rifle and the bullet got halfway to the target and slowed down and stopped, then it came back and hit the guy!

just about as unlikely as the Earth stopping spinning.  Hey, never heard of Newton?  SHEEEEESH!

  12. The ancients recorded the disaster perhaps 9792 BC. In the heiroglyphs it is the two lions with the Sun between them.

Stories about the Sun rising in the West once before. The Lion facing one way and the other facing the other way.

If the earth is slowed down by drag of another celestial body, it will cause the earth to dip. Everything is reset on the earth's surface.

Talk about Niburu...talk about Dim Sun.

Talk about a destroyer in the stars.....approaching and hidden from plain sight.

There are other things which are going to proceed any Dim Sun or likewise.

    It's all real.

It will be the 5th world we are entering and yet it will be a clean sweep of all existing civilization. A restart. A reboot.

Keep your eyes on CERN and it's "Shiva" experiment.

  13. There is not one single *scientific* theory that says that. Not even one. There are crazy people who are always predicting disasters that never happen for all kinds of strange reasons, like they had a dream or an angel told them or Nostrodamus wrote it in code or whatever. But there are no scientists who have any theory that says that will happen, or even anything remotely similar to that.

The closest you will get with science is the idea that the magnetic poles may reverse over the next few thousand years. But no disasters would result.

  14. The earth will not change its spin direction!

And what does the magnetic field have to do with it?

The magnetic poles move all the time.

There is a geologic record that shows it has happened many times in our past but not at regular intervals. Time between reversals can be 10000 yrs or a million years.

However - we know that the magnetic field does not collapse in the process - if it did, there would be major extinctions that correlate with the geologic record for pole reversals - there is no correlation.

The latest hypothesis is that the Earth's magnetic field gets chaotic, with lots of north and south poles - so we still have a magnetic field, but compasses will be useless. And then it straightens itself back out, but with north and south reverse.

This is actually similar to what the sun does - but the sun does it on a regular 11 year cycle.

As for when it will happen - those people that observe the magnetic field think it will go through its chaotic thing and reverse some time soon based on how it is currently behaving, but that is a hypothesis waiting for the event to occur to be tested, and the exact date certainly is not known.

Now for the rotational axis and its shift:

The axis of the earth does wobble on several known timescales. These wobbles are known as the Milankovic cycles.

    See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milankovic_...

Basically the axis of the earth’s rotation does not always point to Polaris (the Pole Star); and we are not always inclined at 23.5 deg. So the poles do move relative to the plane of the earth’s orbit around the sun, and relative to the stars – but the shifts are minor.

All the doomsday predictions for 2012 are nonsense.

  15. some scientists believe the earth is 4.5 Billion years old.

some others believe its a few thousands.

stop and think about, how the earth has been changing all that time.

wouldnt that have already happened by now?

They have no reasonable evidence to suggest such a thing..

there have been so many allegations about the end of the world.

All we have to go on IS ARCHAELOGIC EVIDENCE.

and evidence is found in the bible about "the last days are here"

so the world will end soon, but it wont be destroyed. Gods kingdom will be restored and humans will live forever in a paradise.

read your bible. any translation  should be good :)

  16. no one mentioned this one 10 years ago,

I say that it may happen at any time, not just in 2012.

2012 is not that special of a date.
