I am going to start working out again soon. And i was talking to my bf and he says " you are going to start by running 40 minutes a day". I know his intentions are good... but i hate being told what to do so i tried to reason with him that starting at 40 minutes a day is a little too much and i should start by running less like maybe a mile. No he still insists " No you're running 40 minutes everyday" so i decided to be blunt and say. " No. I wont. Don't tell me what to do." he says whatever and hangs up on me... so wtf is going on. was it me being rude or am i not getting something here?

  1. you do what you feel is best. if he cant handle you thinking for yourself, then there maybe problems on this path.

  2. no your not being rude hes pretty much being a jerk trying to control you but that might be because he cares about you talk to him and tell him how it makes you feel also 40 minutes is a bit much just running if your just staring if its a mix between running/walking/jogging thats not horrible

  3. just tell him next time that you think his intentions are good and you appreciate it, but you think 40 min aday is way too much....which it is! And that you thing it's better to start light and add on. you will be running 40 min in no time.....but noone really has to run everyday... the body needs to rest aswell. unless you are in the military!'

and tell him he's rude for hanging up on you - there was no reason for it whatsoever!!

  4. sounds like a douche to me.

  5. I think you have every right to defend yourself.

If he cares about you and what makes you happy, he'd insist on anything that you want.

And obviously if you're going to start working out again, you have to start it off easy in the beginning...he should understand

    Good luck!

  6. He was definitely being rude. And it is true, if you're only just starting up again on working out, it shouldn't be 40 mins.
