  1. i think it would make them lazy!!! shoot it woulda made me lazy!!! without someone on ur kids back, do they do everything they're told? i.e. chores, hw, shower, clean animals cage house- or bathe animals? when it came to school, i kinda needed someone there to make sure i was doing my stuff right. so if ur kids r extremely extremely focused and independent and responsible, go for it!!!

  2. It can be a *wonderful* experience!!!  It's a great bridge between public/private school and homeschooling (it's not HS'ing b/c it's still private school...just at home).

Why not try it for a year and see how it goes?  It will give them more time for their own interests, more friends in the HS'ing community, more time for paid, or volunteer work, and many other benefits!

Don't listen to the naysaying trolls who know NOTHING about home education!!!

  3. I don't think it would be very fun but it would prevent school shootings

  4. I think its awesome, if they are smart, genuinely interested in learning and increasing their knowledge, and motivated.  I was stuck at a crappy high school and was bored to death everyday and never did any homework  because I already knew the material and aced every test, so I got C's.  They eventually figured it out (my counselors) and let me graduate 6 months early, big whoop!

My hubby was in the same boat and skipped 3 grades after 2 weeks of kindergarten, but still was way ahead of everyone else. Sadly, his parents did not allow him to be home schooled or go to an accelerated school for supposed social side effects.  It messed up our education big time.  We both wonder what we could have been if we had a program that catered to us.

The American public education system sucks. I never want my kids to go through what I or my hubby endured and will homeschool them.

  5. I think it is great for families and children who are committed to learning.  It does not give you as much control as traditional homeschooling, but it is a great bridge for those who want to teach their children at home but don't want to go it alone.

Here is some information about computer based homeschooling:

Keep in mind that your children will have to be more proactive in terms of  completing their assignments and finding social activities outside of the home (if your charter school program does not provide them).

It will be an adjustment for all of you, but it can definitely work.

    Good luck!
