  1. I was sitting with my newborn laying up beside my legs as i sat on the couch watching t.v. i could look down at her and mother her. the dogs were outside, and being loud about coming inside, so i got up and rushed to let the door open. i left baby on the couch alone, knowing she didn't move around much i figured i could be fast enough to open a door for the dogs. how terrible of me, because then i let the dogs in and was calling to my cat to come in or not, but i wasn't thinking... i slammed my door shut, locking me outside without a phone or key. my newborn was inside with my two dogs, which i wasn't worried about, but i was worried about baby on the couch. dumb, i know. so i went to the neighbors and used their phone to call my mom who didn't answer. my neighbor didn't realize my predicament (old man) even though i said it on the phone to my mom's answering machine. so i was helpless. i didn't know what to do. i decided to hike it barefooted to my mom's which is a couple miles away. a friend saw me and picked me up to help out. by the time i got to my mom's house (who wasn't home) and back to mine, the ambulance was there with my mom and baby in arms. my mom saved the day but was having an anxiety attack. the neighbor came over (old man) and beat the door k**b off to get inside fter my mom asked him for help. (i should've freaked out more for help.)

  2. I'm so embarrassed my daughter knows what a happy meal is and then screams and cries every time we pass a McDonald's.  That's embarrassing but the WORST moment that I wish I could go back in time and re-do is when I popped her hand because she wouldn't go to sleep. (I was sick and didn't feel like "winding her down" as usual and hubby wasn't around to help.)

  3. I don't think you are bad at all. A little adult food or soda won't hurt her. When I was a kid people gave their newborns cow's milk in their bottles, and later on, tea or soft drinks in them!

Here is an example of parenting in the "old days": http://tinypic.com/usermedia.php?uo=J30R...

I had a "bad daddy" moment once when my youngest daughter was 2. She handed me a piece of candy to unwrap for her. I unwrapped it and handed it back to her. She examined it and said "This is hard candy - this will CHOKE me!" She was a smart kid!

  4. When my son was about a month old I took him into the next town to go shopping. We went to a few stores and I never took him out of his carseat. When we got home, I took his blanket off and realised I had never strapped him in. I was sick thinking about what if we got in a wreck, or what if he had tipped out of the seat and hit the ground. Also, a couple of months ago he was sleeping on the couch and I went to go do laundry. When I came out of the laundry room he was on the floor crying. He had rolled off the couch. Thankfully, he landed on a pillow. I still felt bad. As for the junk food, I will let him have a brownie for dessert if I made them, and if we go out to eat I will let him have a maximum of 2 fries. I let him have anything in moderation.

  5. Mom of 3  mine are 22, 12, and 9.

I am thinking of the worst ones, because there have been many over the years lol.

I shut the trunk on my oldest kids fingers I don't honestly remember how many times,   I  am still to this day not sure how I managed this one,   but he was about 4 years old, and was playing hide and seek with his cousins 5 and 4  he hid in the clothes dryer that I had just loaded and was interupted by the phone ringing I went down to the basement and turned it on all I heard was clump clump clump poor kid.

My middle child I  fastend her in her car seat one time,  but it was one of the old ones  this was 11 years ago they had adjustable bottoms the bottom bar was not locked in place I was driving down the road and a car hit their brakes and the car seat folded up on her legs.  she wasn't hurt thank God but  I made sure I double checked after that.  Now this one I hope every one reads,  I was cooking dinner when she was about 3 years old,  I opened a can with a regular can opener and did not remove the top of the lid big mistake.  the can fell out of the trash  she picked it up to place it back in the can and her finger got caught between the lid and the can.  3 stitches do to stupidity.   Safety can openers are still in my house .   When she was six years old,  she had very long hair she was sitting in the car and kept putting her head out the window.  so I put up the window and caught her hair in the window.  that  one isn't so bad,  but is the one thing she remembers to this day.

when mike was a few weeks old, sara was 2 almost 3 we had company over for a visit.  when they were leaving I put mike down in his seat and walked my sis out to the car.

before we even got to the car, I heard Sara and looked back she had Mike by the neck dangeling him over the stairs.  once again stupidity. always fasten the restraints .

I bet you don't think I can top that but I can.   I had the front door open when Mike was about 2 years old.  he was laying in the floor sleeping I had to use the restroom so I thought quick run right no problem  I came back out and Mike was gone.  I looked all over the yard and didn' t see him  went to my sister inlaws to see if he wandered over there no mike found him next door stuck to a barb wire fence by his diaper with three horses preventing him from moving.

Mike was four years old, we were living on a farm and still do,  he had just gotten three pigme goats,  we were standing there feeding the goats some  grass and petting them,  some one pulled up in the drive way so I went to see who it was Mike  scurried up and over the fence  decided he was going to ride the goats.  needless to say a broken arm and huge Knot on his head because of taking my eye off for just a minute. which I should have known better with him. lol

Those are the worse mommie momments I have had.

No wait one more I took Mike to Deer forest he had just gotten potty traind and hadn't had an accident in over a  week.  I had every thing but a spare change of clothes in the bag,  poor kid wet himself and  had to ride home 45 minutes  in a t shirt  and a towel.

Ahh yeah  of course then there is the ocasional soda, fast food,  gave them junk food and candy once in a while.

  6. My heart just sank when you said a 9month old is in a tub alone, that just makes me sad.

I must confess I also give my 1 year old daughter "junk" food, she loves french fries.

  7. When my son was 4 he didn't like the house we lived in, it was older and his aunt and uncle had just got a house built, and that's the kind of house he wanted to life in, so he tried to burn down our house. He put a peice of paper on top of a light bulb and then a plastic cup. So I made him pack his bags, and I kicked him out. He was crying and asked if he could call his grandma so that she could come and get him and I told him no because I loved her to much and didn't want him to burn her house down, he sat out side on the front porch for hours crying until I let him back in. He is now almost 12 and still brings up the fact that I don't care about him because I tried to kick him out.

  8. Well this is gonna sound bad but she is very well taken care of I promise but in the past 3 weeks we've had lots of bad moments She's 3 by the way and not mine but she is my b/f's daughter so with that said:

-Sunday she jumped in the pool 2 times with no life jacket on and I had to jump in fully clothed both times to get her

-last week we went to leave my sisters fiances basketball game and she got ran over by a basketball player, leaving quite a bump on her head (she still wants to go back to the b-ball games!!)

-locked her in the car a few months ago (before it started getting hot)

-of course we give her soda's not often just occasionaly when we go out to a resturant (we don't have soda in the house, but it's all I drink)

-she gets chicken nugget happy meals a good bit

-we forgot to strap her in the car seat but realized it before we got out of the neighborhood

I also used to watch a child (now I live with him and his mom)

    - I forgot to strap the car seat in

    - I put him down in an ant bed making both of us get eatin up by fire ants (she still talks c**p about it)

    - she smokes around him

    - she leaves him in the tub unattended, he is 3

  9. This was pretty recent--

We were moving out of our apartment to a new house, and while I was moving stuff out of the apartment, my son shut the door behind me and locked himself in the house!!!  I didn't have a key, and he was in the living room crying and scared :(  I was about to break the window, but I didn't want him to get hurt from broken glass.

I called my husband, but he was 30 minutes away--I was SOOOOO  upset!!  Finally, I was able to yell in through the window to my son and I told him how to unlock the door--after a few minutes of that, he unlocked it and I ran in and scooped him up.  I felt like a horrible mom that day!!!

  10. well, I smashed my daughters fingers in the car door when she was 3. They were black and blue for weeks and swollen- but not broken thank god.

My other daughter- and this is by far the worst.....I went to take a shower in the master bath, my daughter was about 2 and I sat her on my bed and put Barney in the DVD player- left the door open. Well, when I got out (in a quick 4 to 5 minutes) she was sitting on the floor with my jewlery box (that had been up on my shelf- she musta climbed), she was choking, grabbing her chest- I did a hemlick(spelling) on her and she threw up 2 small hoop ear rings.

It still really bothers me almost 4 years later.

  11. We've done the car seat thing. When my son was in the convertable car seat we put him in there and then clicked the carseat into the base. My husband took our son inside and we both FREAKED when we realized what we did. Once in a while he get's a french fry too. We are all human and mistakes happen we as adults and parents need to try and minimize them. Purposely leaving a 9 month old in the tub and smoking around them isnt an accident, its stupidity

  12. I strapped my 1yr old into his car seat. Later on I realized it wasn't buckled into the car. YIKES! Don't know how long it had been like that. Thank god I didn't have a wreck!!!!

  13. If these are your worst mommy moments mine are going to make you guys cringe. I was making the bed with my youngest when she was 2 and i had one of those old iron bedframes. My daughter was jumping around on the bed with me and fell. She split her head open on the bed frame requiring 4 staples. 3 years before that i fell asleep watching tv and my son who was 2 at the time climbed the tv stand to get a toy. He fell off and the tv fell on top of him. He broke 3 ribs, his shoulder, and cut his chin requiring 6 stitches. I once forgot my daughter at a restaurant when she was 9. We had taken 2 mini vans and 11 children. I didnt realize she was in bathroom and we left. 25 minutes later when we got home we realized we forgot her. I once ran over my oldest daughters blankie with a lawn mower by mistake. Spent 3 days searching for a replacement and apologizing. This is just the first things that come to mind. I have had many, many worst mom moments.
