  1. Switzerland is a member of the so called "Shchengen Raum". So your "Schengen Visa" is also valid in Switzerland.

  2. Well Shengen and Swiss visa are different and you have to have a Swiss visa to visit Switzerland

  3. If your family member is there legally, make sure you have a letter from your family inviting you to Switzerland.  Contact the Swiss Embassy either in your country or the one nearest you.  You can contact them on-line.  Switzerland will allow EU country members access to its borders; however, as you are not an E.U national, you would need a separate visa to enter Switzerland.  I have seen persons who were making connecting flights try to enter Switzerland and on special occasions they would give temporary visas at the airport.  That depends on which country and that was before 911.  A lot has changes since then.

    Boaz.

  4. According to the website below, the Schengen visa will not allow you to enter Switzerland.  You will need to get a visa for Switzerland.  Sorry!  Hope you get to visit your family.
