What´s the meaning of the letter G on free masonry?

I just search for masonry on google, and I find some pages with some masonry simbols, and it appear, in some cases, the letter G shining like made of gold

  1. It stands for both Geometry and God...As geometry is the central art and science applied to the occupation of masonry (architecture), so too is God the central force in the hearts of Freemasons. It's one of our metaphoric lessons and symbols.

    The G is usually only used among English speaking Lodges, since in this language God and geometry both start w/ the letter G.

    Some people used to think it stood for Guild.
