  1. It is my opinion that you found this quote interesting.

  2. It sounds like Ol' Edgar knew what was going on.

  3. I think in many cases it thrived because of those things.

I think it evolved to explain a natural world that early man didn't yet understand.

  4. Cool quote! I agree definitely.

I've always thought the world would better without any religion but we need it.!

  5. I think it is a quote. You have definitely posted a quote.

  6. its  rubbish  just because  men  do not want to know  God  does not  stop  him being real.

  7. He also said

As an individual, I myself feel impelled to fancy a limitless succession of Universes. Each exists, apart and independently, in the bosom of its proper and particular God.

    Edgar Allan Poe

A strong argument for the religion of Christ is this - that offences against Charity are about the only ones which men on their death-beds can be made - not to understand - but to feel - as crime.

    Edgar Allan Poe

  8. It is always easier to project outwardly onto an object, i.e. "all" religions than to understand that if he had a problem with religion, it had to do with the personal expression of his own church which he attended, his upbringing, his parents (or lack thereof), the strict community which surrounded him, and the fact that in the 19th century, and even the 20th century North Americans are constructed from an Enlightenment rationale.  But I have never met a human who did not struggle with a degree of fear, greed, imagination, and poetry; fraud also if we understand that it is easy for humans to deceive themselves.  This statement also does not negate religion, it simply places a frame around his understanding of religion.  I appreciate his opinion, but we should never say, "All", I am too post-modern for that. :)

  9. I would agree, when it comes to *religion*. Religion is not God.

  10. Not much.

Mr Poe was a broken man, and his thinking is questionable.

"Briefly, Poe's problems were medical as well as emotional and perhaps even psychological. In the first place, Poe was believed to be clinically depressed, even a bit insane. The depression and madness Poe experienced was thought to be the cause of his addiction to alcohol and drugs. Another reason Poe was an alcoholic could be that his nervous system was weakened as a result of a brain lesion and ongoing heart troubles, causing a severe intolerance of alcohol and addiction to soothing drugs. Finally, and perhaps the most obvious cause of death, was the actual finding of a brain lesion in Poe's autopsy, which could have been the cause of Poe's insanity, depression, and many of the other illnesses Poe reported."

I would not suggest anyone making life decisions based on Poe's thoughts.

  11. I´d take like it´s.......... Mr.Poe´s thought

However there are around (or more) 4500 different religions. If this it´s not business what is it?

    Have a great one.................. Kunn

    .

  12. If by religion you mean organized religions, that sounds pretty accurate.  Maybe not all of them at once, but at least a couple at a time for each religion.

  13. Sounds like a moron to me.
