I’m moving to Maynooth in September because of college and getting a Hdip etc. what I basically want to know is, what is Maynooth like? I’ve lived in Dublin for 3 months a while ago, Is it similar to Dublin? Is it more expensive than average? How is the Public transport? etc.

Any Advice will be appreciated.

Thank You! = )

  1. ah maynooth is great!

transport is good with 66's and 67's  regularly going into dublin city centre. Plus its a short walk away from maynooth train station.

Social life is class! my cousin goes to maynooth and all the bars and all that is near to the college.

    college grounds are lovely!

hope you have a good time! im going there next year:)

  2. great place to be as a studenT!

  3. good craic, not in college out there but it seems good.dublin bus head out there,66 67.great nightlife during the college year.

  4. Well, it is more like a built up town, than a city. It isn't really that big, so it isn't really similar to dublin. It isn't expensive there and there is a tesco and a Lidl (I think there is an Aldi there aswell) so if you really want to get stuff cheap you can go to one of them. I am not sure about the buses, I never went on them there, but to go into dublin you can use the train. It is a very well run and is always on time. If you lived in the town, you wouldn't really need a bus to go to the college, a bike will work fine. But if your getting a bike, make sure you keep it inside your apartment/house or keep it chained up with a good strong lock at the college because it might get stolen.

Hope this helps you! and good luck in Maynooth!

  5. Maynooth is absolute bliss! especially if your a student!

We've got the best of both worlds. Because we're not too far away from the city and we're not too far away from the countryside.

If your into nightlife, the roost, o'neills and the leinster arms is your place.

If your into your food, then kehoe's, the lemongrass in the Glenroyal Hotel, and the new restaurant called the Avenue.

If your into swimming the Glenroyal Hotel has 2 fantastic pools and a great gym.

If your into nice walks and nature then head up to Carton Estate its a gorgeous old mansion with great grounds.

The public transport is good it only takes 30 minutes on a bus to get to Dublin.

  6. Hi i was in college there for 4 years and I loved it. great student atmosphere and you get to know a lot of people very quickly, a hdip ed from maynooth is very good i did mine in ucd and i missed maynooth so much, the craic in the roost and the Su  the G spot(glenroyal) was ok.

Its a student town so the students are a large part of the community there rag week is great craic and the galway cycle is the best part, Maynooth raises more money or as much money than nuig during rag week.

  7. It's brilliant. It's just the right size, the nightlife is alright and when you get bored of it it's just hop on a bus to Dublin.I got offered the H-Dip in Galway but didn't take it because I wnat to stay in Maynooth instead. There are buses to town every half hour and the train station is about 15mins from the college. If you're moving up though I advise getting a house rather than on campus. Things have a tendency to break down in the on-campus. The societies are also fantastic.
