  1. "Christian" definition.

Prophet- usually a preacher, not necessarily a pastor. One who has the unusual ability to see the truth and to spot a lie. He may be well educated or dumb as a doornail. Generally not well liked, he has a supernatural gift of distinguishing between right and wrong.

Apostle- all were selected by Jesus and died out in the first century. They all met the resurrected Jesus. There are none living today. They had special abilities we do not see today.

Saint- any person who is born again.

[Within catholicism a saint is one who has done sufficient good to be awarded that title by the RCC]

  2. in the christian church, a saint is some one that has recieved salvation. in the catholic church, a saint has to be canonized. there are a series of confirmations that have to be accepted, and verified to prove sainthood.

a prophet is recognized by their ability to foresee, and foretell. either someone has that ability or they don't. even if they have the ability, if they do not manifest it to others, they will not be recognized as a prophet. there are a lot who profess to be a prophet and aren't. one true sign of someone not being a prophet is their claim to being a prophet.

in the new testament, the description of an apostle is that they are the founders of the church. in this definition, apostles do not exist today. in a more casual defintion, an apostle is one who shows leadership in more than one category, such as pastor, teacher, evangelist, etc, etc. in today's church, becoming an apostle would follow years of dedicated service; exemplary lifestyle; committment to community, family, and of course God.

do they all perform miracles? in the Bible, they did. by the rules of sainthood in the catholic church, a saint must have shown that they did perform a miracle. but in the words of Christ, all may perform miracles if they have faith.

  3. Prophet - But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men. 1 Corinthians 14:3

Apostle - someone who is sent by God to perform a mission like founding a church.

Saint - a born again believer in the Lord Jesus Christ

One person can have a variety of spiritual gifts. All Christians are "Saints" in God's eyes because a saint is someone who has been set apart from sin and the world system to serve the Lord. An Apostle or a Prophet can do the same things but it's a matter of having an ongoing prophetic or apostolic ministry and again, someone can speak edification and exhortation and comfort to men while founding a church.

apóstolos; gen. apostólou, masc. noun from apostéllō (G649), to send. Used as a subst., one sent, apostle, ambassador. Sometimes used syn. with presbeutēs, ambassador, related to presbeúō (G4243), to act as an ambassador

prophétēs; Generally of persons acting by divine influence as prophets and ambassadors of God under the new dispensation, equivalent to a teacher sent from God

saint or holy one hágios; fem. hagía, neut. hágion (G39), adj. from hágos (n.f.), any matter of religious awe, expiation, sacrifice. Holy, set apart, sanctified, consecrated, saint. It has a common root, hág-, with hagnós (G53), chaste, pure. Its fundamental idea is separation, consecration, devotion to the service of Deity, sharing in God's purity and abstaining from earth's defilement.

  4. A prophet is someone like Isaiah and Jeremiah - they are all gone now..........an apostle is someone who actually 'saw' Jesus Christ while He was alive on this earth - like Peter, James, John, even Paul ---they are all gone now..........a saint is 'any' born again believer in Jesus Christ.................

    God Bless.................

  5. You don't have to have a title to do miracles. Youhave to be a follower of Christ and believe in Him.

  6. A prophet is one that can prophcy something many yrs in advance & it will come to pass, The Apostle is the one that keeps the correct interpretation on the word of God, that is the highest calling in the ministry. Eph. 4:11-17 & a saint is some one that is truly born again & following the truth.
