I really love nature and I'm very fond of animals. That’s why I’m so deeply concerned with environmental issues as well as the global environmental situation. I’m Brazilian and Brazil is unfortunately among the countries with the most endangered or threatened species. Among so many awesome creatures, I’m fascinated by whales. These gentle giants can sing to communicate with each other and are animals with an elaborate social life as well as dolphins. Unfortunately, many species are threatened with extinction because of a large predatory fish activity, and sea bed is increasingly being damaged or destroyed by fishermen. So marine mammals are vulnerable or endangered because they’re primarily ocean-dwelling or depend on the ocean for food – like polar bears.

What do you think about it? What is the most interesting and fascinating marine mammal for you? Why?

  1. i agree with you.  whales are fascinating.

  2. I'm amazed by seahorses. I saw a show of them at a local aquarium, and they are incredibly graceful and delicate. They had another variety next to them that were known as "sea dragons". They are similar to seahorses but they had leaf-like fins sticking out from all over their bodies. Also, I find it interesting that the male fathers the eggs.

I agree with you that whales are also very interesting to observe.

  3. Sea turtles amaze me. Their struggle for survival from the second they leave their egg, to their ability to find their way back to the very beach they hatched on. I hope we don't lose these creatures.

  4. A DOLPHIN

  5. North Atlantic Right Whales. There are less then 400 left and they're still fighting for survival. They look kind of funny but when I was a kid I decided they would be my favourite because all the other kids in my class liked bottlenose dolphins and orcas. So I decided when I was 6 that I would stand up for the funny looking whale.

  6. I will have to second the dolphins.  Having seen them close up a few times gave me quite a thrill.  They are all fascinating and I wish more was done to protect them - including less weapons testing in waters where they are known to be.  Most every mass stranding of whales is predicated my nearby military 'exercises'. It must be unbelievably painful to have such huge explosions in the water when you can hear another of your species 'talk' from many miles away.  The brain damage it causes has to torture them - which is why they strand themselves.

...btw a Seahorse is not a MAMMAL.  Though they are very interesting as well - I even got to see one in labor! He looked so uncomfortable!

  7. i like dolphins.
