1) I prefer Emma - it's just a little more modern and fresh-sounding I guess (Emily was more popular in my town than Emma).  It's very sweet.

2) Audrey.  Like Hepburn.

3) Nicole - it's my sister's name.  But we threw in the 'h' AND the double 'l' (Nicholle).

4) Felicia.  Sounds softer and more feminine - also, Felicity is always going to reminiscent of that Keri Russell TV Show for me - my mother was addicted.

5) Miranda - very classy and quite original

6) I'd rather not use either but I guess Hailey's better.  I think it's more timeless.

7) Neither.  They're both terrible.

8) Eva.  It's rarer - I also think it sounds quite lovely.

9) Lara.

10) Lydia.  Linda is a bit dated to me.

1. Emily : It's an incredibly popular name at the moment, but Emily has a timeless style. I like that Emma or Emmy can be used as nicknames.

2. Audrey : This is such a classic name, and it reminds me of old Hollywood. I like the name Aubrey as well, but I prefer it as a boys middle name.

3. Nicola : This variant of Nicholas (the latinate/italian form, I believe) sounds both fresh and classic compared to the other options.

4. Felicity : I like the sound of this name more, and enjoy it's meaning (the word felicity means 'happiness').

5. Miranda : I like the sound of this name better. It has nice literary associations (Shakespeare created this name), and I like the nicknames Mira and Anda.

6. Hailey : I don't like either of these names, but this is the lesser of the two evils.

7. Addison : I'm not a particular fan of either Madison or Addison, but I prefer the nickname Addy to Maddie.

8. Ava : These are both nice names, but I prefer Ava because there are less pronunciation issues (half the little Eva's I know say their name as Ava anyway).

9. Laura : My name is Lauren, so I would probably never use this name for a child... But I've always preferred the name Laura to Lauren. Lauren is too contemporary and common, while Laura is a timeless, classic name.

10. Lydia : It's a sweet name with old-fashioned charm. Lynda sounds dated and I dislike the spelling.
