Where would these BOTH be grown? (In the U.S)

Also, are either of these grown in South Carolina or Georgia? (If so, what areas?)

  1. Wheat and barley are grown commercially mainly in the northern great plains, but they are also grown all through the south.  They are both grown in South Carolina and Georgia as well.  They are often planted as cover crops during the winter and turned under as green manure crops.  So you may have seen them growing and never realized that it was wheat,  barley, or oats.

  2. Where?

  3. Wheat is grown in most of the states in the Union.  It is predominantly grown on the high plains from Texas to Montana.

    Barley is the same.

Both South Carolina and Georgia grow some wheat.

Look up Ag statistics for each state you are interested in.

  4. both in pennsylvania - but must farmers I talk to say they grew Fall Barley once and switched back to Winter Wheat(  -because fall Barley (35 bu) does not do as well as Winter Wheat (70 bu)

  5. Both of these grow well in the northern  great plains area.  If you made a block from Kansas to North Dakota, to Washington state and then a diagonal back to Kansas.  That is the main small grains region.  Nebraska is ideal.
