Question:

Wheatgrass for wedding centrepieces?

I want to use some kind of grass in centrepieces. I am thinking about planting it in shallow (4" deep) trays, and then sticking mini fake trees in there to make a sort of forest setting at each table (we are having tree seedlings for our favours, which I will incorporate into the centrepiece).

Is wheatgrass suitable for this? I heard it grows really wuickly and lushly, but I'm concerned. Wedding is 22 days away, does it grow fast enough to look good?

Thanks!

  1. It will look like a grass and won't have the seed heads if that is what you want.  You may be looking at 5-10 days to seeing green then its a matter of it growing thicker. You can speed things up a little bit by monitoring everything very carefully.  Keep the soil warm and moist but not to warm or moist because you can also encourage molds and fungus make sure to have good light and air circulation.  Good luck it sounds like a great idea.
