Question:

Wheaties vs. Frosted Flakes controversy for Michael Phelps...?

Now there's these people who are mad that he's promoting Frosted and Corn flakes instead of Wheaties because Frosted Flakes has too much sugar in it and it's sending a bad message to kids.

What is your opinion on this?

I personally think that he's probably promoting Kellogg's instead of Wheaties because they offered him more and plus, Frosted Flakes tastes way better than Wheaties. I don't think his picture on a box is gonna be a factor in childhood obesity.

Here's an article about it:

  1. Of course he would rather do Kelloggs instead of Wheaties.. Ya, wheaties are better. But who the heck eats those.. everyone loves frosted flakes.. hopefully he goes the frosty flakes way, haha! Im sure he will, we all know he likes to get his full share of food, and isnt no health freak!

  2. yeah like wheaties are health food. it sounds like they need  a waaaabulance

  3. Wheaties is old and tired.  What a waste of space on the cereal shelf at my local store...

This is a smart move by Phelps:  Frosted Flakes and the "Earn Your Stripes" campaign that Kellogg's has going is all about kids exercising, playing sports, staying active.  Plus, Kellogg's was one of the first companies that made the decision to stop marketing their products to kids under 12 if they had a certain amount of sugar in their products.  Check out the article posted.  Seems pretty responsible to me...

It also looks like they're going to put Phelps on the Corn Flakes box as well, so if all these whiners are upset about sugar content, Corn Flakes is the way to go.  That brand has been around forever.

Kellogg's and Michael Phelps hooking up is a great way to communicate to kids AND moms the importance of eating right, getting off their a$$e$ and jumping in the pool to get some exercise instead of sitting around playing XBox all day.

    Frosted Flakes are GGGGGGRRRREAT!!

  4. I agree with what you said and I think Frosted and Corn Flakes taste much better than Wheaties.

  5. frosted flakes for sure they taste really good and the tiger is cool

  6. I think that someone had a little too much time on their hands and decided to "make" a mountain out of a molehill.

Nothing forces kids and their mother to buy Frosted Flakes, whether his picture is on it or not - the government is trying to control what we eat. Personally, I never heard of a child becoming obese because of too many bowls of Frosted Flakes.

It's his career opportunity, and if there is any negative response, he'll deal with it, so it's not like it affects the consumer in any way. Considering that he take in 5000 calories a day, we shouldn't be bugging him.

  7. I agree with you that Frosted Flakes are better tasting then Wheaties which is probably the only reason Phelps eats them.

  8. Well NO ONE eats wheaties! They are sick nasty, I eat Kashi(Organic cereal).

Frosted Flakes are Grrrrreat!!!! If they offer me more than Wheaties is, I'm going to Kellogg's!!

  9. Interesting. I heard (On Inside Edition) that he is doing Frosted Flakes because he did Wheaties after the 2004 Olympics.

  10. Worrying about the sugar on the cereal is stupid.

If they want to worry about something, let them consider the fact that he eats 10,000 calories a day to keep up with his metabolism and workout schedule. Kids get THAT information, and the sugar on the cereal becomes less than nothing.

Or worry about parents who don't bother teaching their children good nutrition in the first place.

Or worry about the officious people who blame the foods for the problems instead of the eaters and try to legislate them out of existence.

Honestly, we're sooooo close to becoming a Nanny state!

Hmm. Hot button, I guess. Sorry.
