Hi, I might visit Finland in my near future, like go to see what their sledge hockey team is like and if I would like to play for them in college and stuff. I was wondering........would a guy in a wheelchair have alot of trouble getting around places(I am very independent.....like very independent...very strong upper arms and could do almost anything ecept go up large amount of stairs....and no I can't stand at all..)........like for example Helinsinki becuase I know they have wheelchair people from their wheelchair hockey but I don't know if they care for disabled as mush as the US does.

What is your opionin??

(Sorry for any errors)

  1. Well, the situation varies a lot from city to another, but basically many buildings do have elevators or at least stairlifts available for wheelchair-bound people. The problem mainly occurs on old buildings where the elevators are small or only stairs are used there. Also, some trams, buses or trains might have it difficult to transfer people in wheelchairs, but in general it should not be a big problem. The best suggestion is to make sure in advance that your wheelchair fits in, or use a taxi with a wheelchair lift instead. In short, there may be some obstacles here and there, but, it is possible to avoid them if everything is well planned in advance. Welcome to Finland!
