Question:

Wheelchairs at Disney World?

This fall we are thinking about going to Disney World. My sister just had knee surgery and may not be able to walk. Is it possible to rent wheelchairs once there? Does it really get you to the front of the line or get you in a shorter line ect.?

Thanks!

  1. You can rent wheel chairs down there.  I don't know about getting you ahead of crowds or not, but the fall is a great time to go down there.  The crowds aren't as bad and you can still get fast passes to get on rides that take longer to get on.  You can also rent motor scooters like those little rascals.  I am jealous, you're going to Disney.  Wish I were going!  Maybe some day next year we will go with my soon to be four year old.

    Anyway, have a great time!

  2. Yes it really does get you ahead in the lines.  We went a few years ago and my grandmother was in a wheelchair at the time.  They take you to the handicapped entrance of the ride and you go in there.  Sometimes you have to wait a few minutes but it really does bypass most of the long lines.

  3. you can rent wheel chairs once you get there. also, if she has a handicap sticker or hang tag, you can park in the handicap section and they have wheelchairs that are designed to get you to the park. at that point you have to rent one. prices do change to i would tell you to check with disney or www.allearsnet.com for the latest prices.

as far as getting you into the front of the line... it depends. most rides have lines that will accommodate a wheel chair and you will have to go through the same line. some rides require you to enter through a different locations and it could save you some time but usually not much. many persons abused the wheel chair access so they are more careful with what they allow. however, for shows, parades and fireworks, their will be special sections set aside for wheelchairs. but again, if its a big group, you might be split up because of it.

  4. Yes, you can rent wheelchairs there. Rental fee is $10 per day. While I've never been in the situation with a wheelchair at Disney, I'm pretty sure you can go to the front of the line. On most rides, you go through the exit and then you will get instructions at the station. Here's a good site that tells you where rentals are located at each park and gives a little more information: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/com...

Enjoy your trip! You'll have tons of fun.
