Rodgers.
Liverpool fired Kenny Dalglish from the management http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 on the 15th of this month, following the Reds egregious 2011/12 campaign.
Since the Scott’s sacking, the Latics manager and Rodgers have been deemed by the club as the fittest replacement given their young age and the opportunity for them to work with a top flight Premier League team.
However, Whelan laid down the verdict on Monday that Liverpool have got until Thursday to reach to a decision on Martinez, as the Latics need to start preparing for the 2012/13 campaign.

Martinez is one of the most popular managers at the DW Stadium. With relegation clouds hovering over their heads for a good portion of the previous season, the Latics launched an astounding charge late on under the Spaniard which saw them beat the likes
of Manchester United, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, Liverpool and Newcastle United to maintain their stay in the top division.
With reports also putting Rodgers back in contention for the management job at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, Whelan could not help but reveal his desire that the Reds opt for the Swans boss ahead of Martinez. He was also of the opinion that after being turned down by the Irishman
earlier, the Reds second approach for Rodgers goes on to show their poor decision making and an element of unprofessional uncertainty.
He said: “If it is true that Liverpool want to speak with Brendan Rodgers it proves they don't know who they want as manager. I hope they choose Brendan Rodgers.”
Apart from Martinez and Rodgers, the Reds had earlier pursued the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 manager Pep Guardiola and the Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp for the job, only to see their offer being turned down by both the managers.
Martinez is expected to make an announcement over his future plans on Tuesday.
