  1. You generally will register for gifts 6-8mths before your wedding.  I would recommend doing it in January after all the holiday shopping madness is over.  As for what to register for, you can register for whatever you want/need, but generally people register for household items, like kitchen supplies, sheets, towels, etc.  You should register in at least three places so that you are pretty sure all of your guests will be near at least one of the stores.  Also keep in mind that you will want to register for a wide spectrum of price ranges so that guests will be able to afford to get you a gift off your registry if they want to.

  2. I registered at Macy's and Crate & Barrell, but Target, Bed Bath & Beyond and KMart are good choices, too. I started my registry about 6 months before the wedding and did it in a few trips. Most places like that will have a registry specialist who will help you decide what to register for.

    Best Wishes!

  3. First thing's first, you should only register for things you and your FH will *need* to build your home together. This includes kitchenware (cookware, kitchen towels/mits, utencils, etc.), perhaps some china and silverware, and things for the bathroom (towels, washrags, mats, shower curtains, etc.). Please do not fall into this tacky new trend couple are doing nowadays of registering for plasma TVs and video games. As stated before, the registry is for things you'll need as a couple. Not things for your entertainment.

A few good places to find these things would be Bed, Bath, and Beyond, Target, Wal-Mart, Kohl's, JC Penney, Macy's... Just to name a few.

Since the wedding isn't until next June, I'd suggest waiting a couple of months before beginning your registry.

    Good luck!

  4. you can do it whenever you want, i would start now and do alittle at a time. You can start now if you want most stores will leave the registry open for a year after the last purchase! And you have xmas coming soon you can tell someone like gram or gramps to get you something off there

  5. Here is a registry checklist:

  6. Register 5 months before the wedding at the 3 month period you will be doing other things such as your cake, fittings, working on seating arrangements, etc. Five months was good for me. Also make sure you register for things in various price ranges and consider your guests and their monitary situations before registering. Compile a general list before you go to register so you have a general idea what you need. If a sales associate walks with you as you register remember it is ok to say no to to their suggestions. They will often suggest the most expensive items such as high priced blenders, toasters, sheets, etc. Keep in mind what you need but don't build it up so much that you are disappointed if you don't get something on your registery. If you recieve money you can buy it later and remember most places will give you discounts on items that were not purchased from the registery after the wedding.

  7. I would register 3-5 months before your wedding.  You can register anywhere that you want stuff from; Target, Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma, Hecht's etc.  If you need things for the house register for small appliances, dishes, place settings, etc.

You could also register for your honeymoon and get people to help pay for that.  Good luck!

  8. You can register at 1-3 places, depending on the things you need. I would recommend having one registry somewhere that has stores in many different locations, for guests who will be travelling from out of town.

Make sure to include plenty of gifts at different prices ranges. Don't have everything over $100 or many guests will be left with nothing to buy. Also check your registry regularly to see if you need to add more items in a particular price range.

Register for cookware, cutlery, chef knives, chopping boards, tableware, glassware, decorative items (photo frames/albums, wall prints, vases, etc.) pots and pans, bedding, sheets, linen, throw rug, towels, bathroom set, small appliances (e.g. kettle, iron, rice cooker, slow cooker, etc.). You can also put some larger items on there that you would like because people might go in together to purchase these- just don't go too over the top or people will think you're greedy!

Some registries also have more modern items- money towards your honeymoon, a night in a nice hotel, spa packages, meals at restaurants.

Think of what you and your fiance want/need and then create your registry from there.
