What is the maximum volume of carbon dioxide that could be evolved?

Assuming that 1mol of any gas occupies 24dm3 of volume.

  1. Moles CaCO3 = 1.0 / 100 g/mol = 0.01

    Moles HCl = 0.050 L x 1 M = 0.050

    CaCO3 + 2 HCl >> H2O + CO2 + CaCl2

    moles CO2 = 0.01

    V = 0.24 dm^3
