  1. If the resulting substance is liquid, send a sample through the centrifuge to see if any molecules are denser than another. If they separate, and a prviously unknown density is found, it is likely a new compound is born.

    If gas is formed during a reaction, there should have been a gaseous reaction. Thus produced gas can be tested for unique properties either physical or chemical.

    If a solid is formed, it will most likely pricipitate to the botton of the solution. Separate it and extract properties via various measurements and testing.

    If the solid congeals, then it must be dissolved and tested for molecular properties. If it turns out to be pure, densitiy measurement for instance can tell us if it is a new substance.


  2. The resulting substance has different properties to the initial substances.
