I would think two races would not satisfy most critics or handiecappers, who are always looking  to see who will be the next great horse.

A tripple crown is just an indication that most of the best horses in the industry will be in that race.  The term tripple crown has only one designation in the usa for horse racing, where, three seperate races are ran over a six week period, starting with the first leg on the first saturday in may, at three different tracks at three different distances . In baseball the term tripple crown refers to a player winning the batting average title, the most home runs, and I think the third catagory is stollen bases.

A horse race initself is an event.  The higher the purse, the higher quality of horse will run in that event.  The tripple crown is an event where there are three races that make up tripple crown.  I do not know of any two races that make up an event that is given a designaton of of a double crown.

In harness racing, there are lots of events that are made up of different races where if a horse wins or finishes in the top 4 spots,of one of these races, he is elligable to run in the race that takes the winners from different races to run in the finale race to make up that event.

Thoroughbred racing has events that allow horses to enter if they have won a designated specific race.

I think what should be important is that every horse race is really an event, and when one or more races are grouped togeather to make these events unique, a name is given to them, in this case, the tripple crown which is the combination of three races.

I doubt the name double crown would be used because a tripple is better than a double.  lol ::)

A triple crown is 3 certain races that are set by a race club or state.

they are normaly held in 3 different race tracks.

It doesnt matter if 1 horse wins the three of them or 3 different horses win them its still called the triple crown.

Its the name of a seriers of races not the winners of the race.

If 1 horse wins them all there is no title for the horse, it will just be a very good horse that won the triple crown.

Triple Crown is the name of 3 certain races thats all hun.
