is there such a day or time of the month were you can get a better deal on a car or suv? also how can you talk the price down, thinking about buying a nissan pathfinder or extera, and my credit is good and have already paid off and own a car from that dealership.

  1. Any day is good but you can probably wiggle a stupid-good deal on a busy day.  Go late on the weekend.  If they had a good day they'll be able to absorb a little more loss on your vehicle.  If they had a bad day they'll be desperate to get another unit out.

And the end of the month, the last day, is always a good day, because they're trying to get one more, one more, one more.....

Plus, check for extra factory money on holidays.  Nissan just had a big 4th of July promo where all their vehicles (except Maxima, 350Z and Murano) were getting extra dough.

  2. The best time of the year to buy a vehicle is when the next model year is starting to hit the lots, typically in september and later. The manufacturer's will come out with incentives to make buying the current model (2008) more appealing whether it be cash incentives, reduced interest rates, Brand loyalty bonus' (you own a vehicle of that brand already) or competitor incentives (you own a competitors vehicle).

Ask what kind of price decrease there is if you are NOT tradeing a vehicle in and are just straight financing. You said your credit is good, ask if there is a cash purchase incentive and get a loan from the bank and pay the dealership in a certified check instead of financing from the dealership.

Never ever pay above the sticker price unless it has been an on lot modified vehicle (lift kits and performance parts, aftermarket wheels ect....) and they have invoices to back up the claim that they cost what they are charging.

And dont assume that becuase you threaten not to pay X amount of dollers for the vehicle, doc. fee's admin. fee's what ever the applicable fee's and taxes will be, and you say you will walk out that they will care, guess what, we dont. Dealerships dont make nearly as much on a vehicle that the general public thinks we do, fact is the $60.00 and up pair of jeans that are sold in retail stores, ya they have a higher % markup then what vehicles have. So when you say you will pay X and its 4 thousand under the sticker price or better, unless its a highend vehicle in the 40K or higher range, chances are you are sh*t out of luck and they will say "sorry, my sales manager isn't willing to go that low" becuase thats slitting their own throat. Dealerships have bills to pay as well, its not pure profit.

  3. The best day to buy is any day that sales are bad. It could be the last day of a slow month, or slow week, or a rainy cold day, or any day you're interested in a particular vehicle that is not selling well, such as SUVs right now.

  4. When you need a new car.

There's no such thing as a good deal on a vehicle.  All the so called sales that go on are actually subtracted off of the already jacked up price.  Yes, car companies jack up the price of the car and then show like $5,000 off to make it look like your getting a deal.  You should look at the Window sticker at the actual price of the car, not the dealership price and not pay more than $1,000 over sticker price.  Also you don't have to pay those dealer doc fees either.  If the dealer insists on a dealer doc fee leave.  Why pay the dealer to do their own paperwork?  All you need is the pink piece of paper saying you are now the owner of the vehicle.
