My parents have always wanted to go on a cruise, but only want to go on one to Alaska. So I was thinking, my brother and I could save up enough money and give it to them as a shared birthday present, x-mas present, or anniversary present.

  1. Great advise from everyone, the temperature difference is only about 7 degrees between June and August, July will be the most expensive, and the prices continue to rise, the best cabins are gone as the sailing gets closer.  Talk to an experienced Cruise Agent, we are a wealth of information and have access to more specials.  I would book as far out as you can, but you can also find good deals as the sailing gets closer.  There are so many options on an Alaska cruise.  You do not pay any more to use a Cruise agent, they look out for your vacation (a good one at least).

  2. Very nice gesture that you and your brother are doing for your parents.  The absolute best time to cruise to Alaska is the summertime.(I am owner of a Travel Agency)  The weather is better and because of that they can do more sightseeing when they're off the ship.

So probably the issues that you face are:

1- When specifically and for how long will the cruise be for?  The departure date, length of cruise will make a big difference in the overall price of the cruise to Alaska.

2- Because Alaska is on the Pacific Ocean side, the port they will leave from will no doubt be a West Coast port.  Your parents may or may not reside on the West Coast.  If they don't then they probably will need air transportation to the port city as well.  Just another thing to consider in the total overall costs of the cruise to Alaska.  If they do live on the West coast, then depending on the city that they live in, they may not need air transportation to the port city in question.

So again, depending on the specific date they want to cruise this summer(assuming they want to cruise around Summer '07), there are several cruise bargains that are currently available.  If you could kindly either e-mail me at: indysteve1563@yahoo.com or IM me through Yahoo Messenger(username: indysteve1563), we can search for the best cruise bargains to Alaska that are currently available that you and your parents would be very happy with.

  3. If your parents enjoy seeing wildlife there is more to see in May.  Go to vacationstogo.com and see their extensive list.

  4. Most of the cruises are of the "Inside Passage" which depart either Seattle , WA or Vancouver, BC.  The Inside Passage (SE Alaska) is a rain forest.  The weather is best May-July.

  6. In my opinion, the best time to go on a cruise to Alaska is probably in the summer (June, July, or August). It will most likely be warmer there because it is warmer here. Enjoy your next cruise!

  7. Well, Ms excellent idea. May threw Sept. in the cruise season. You need to book early as they sell out fast. A 7 day cruise you can get for $600 to $700 each +air fair. A real trip is a cruise tour 11 day or more starting at $1399. each but, something they would never forget. You can see whales from the ship the whole season. May is alittle cooler but, less little kids. Sept. is when all the stores in ports have 50% off sales. Each cruise line has their own sites and you can sign up for email specials.
