  1. Any time - go to your local board of education (or their website if they have one) and ask to see the job postings.

  2. I think a good time to inquire would be just before the school year ends.  Principals usually know if they will need more TA's for the following year.  Many children are already on summer break now, but the school districts/personnel offices are still open for business.  Now might be a good time to ask if they need TA's for the upcoming year.  Also, right at the beginning of the new academic year, schools find that they may need new TA's to replace ones that changed their minds about returning in the fall or there is an unexpected surge in student enrollment and additional classes have been added at the school.  So have your resume ready and start now :)Hope that helps!

  3. It depends on the district that you want to work in.

Title 1 aides are paid by the district from the Gov.  Apply for that during the summer.  It's pretty stable but you'd be working in a "low income" school.

Classroom aide are usually not hired until a couple of weeks after school starts.  They need to determine classroom size & the cost / availability of hiring a teacher's aide or another teacher.

Special Ed. aides are hired by the district & help out with students with special needs.  Their jobs are very stable & usually stay with the district for years.  However, not everyone is qualified / able to work with students with special needs all day (sad but true.  It takes  A LOT of patience)

  4. The best time to look for a job as a teachers aid is in the summer because everyone is off and the teachers look at people and have time to interview them.
