Question:

When Africans compare the assassination of Samuel Doe in Liberia to that of Lincoln do they have a point?

Samuel Doe was a head of state for Liberia who was videotaped having his ear cut off by by rebel soldiers. The soldiers went on to kill him. I have heard Africans say that when US citizens criticize this, they are being hypocritical since their own president, Abraham Lincoln, was also assassinated by rebels. Do they have a point?

  1. Erm... its hardly comparable. I mean that happened in Africa, and frankly rebels killing presidents in Africa isn't that uncommon. So its not such a big deal in comparison.

Lincoln was killed in America. The killing of heads of state in America doesn't happen as much as in Africa. Lincoln fought against slavery and is acknowledged as a great leader (isn't he?) and Samuel Doe did what amazing thing exactly?
