When An Animal Sees Their Reflection In The Mirror, What Do They Think?

Question

Do they realize it's a reflection of themselves, or do they think it's another animal? Maybe none of the above...I ask this because my bunny likes to sit or lay so that she's facing her reflection, and I'm wondering what she's thinking.

Some animals like dogs, when they are puppies, tend to be afraid of their reflection. But other animals like monkeys, they have brains closer to ours, and might be able to figure it out.

They're probably sitting there going, "Why are you looking at me? Stop looking at me! I'm fixing to kick your animal ***. I got a can full of animal *** whoopin and I aint afraid to open this ***** up!"

Honestly My cat Dutchas is obsessed with the Mirror. I honestly believe that she knows that is her in the mirror only because she cleans herself in it as well. I often wonder what in the heck she is thinking too.... lol!

It depends on the animal.  Some monkeys can figure it out... they have something human's have called self awareness.

If my dog sees his reflection in a mirror, he basically ignores it. But if he sees his reflection in a window, he starts barking.

IMO, they think they are seeing another animal.  my dog used to growl when he saw his reflection - he thought it was another dog. lol
