and Republicans had been upset with the Democratic party due to a mass of PC being shoved down our throat, I felt that the GOP had a legitimate reason to be upset. Now that we've endured 8 yrs of W and have largest deficit ever, are involved in an illegal and unjust war, and have had many rights (4th amendment gone thanks to the US PATRIOT Act), why is it that the GOP doesn't understand Democratic hostility toward their party when clearly reasoning hasn't worked?

  1. Well said. If Bush would leave office with a BJ and a nice budget surplus, we democrats would like him a lot better.

  2. The so-called "Patriot Acts" (truly the destruction of the 4th and 1st Amendments) would NOT exist had it not been for the votes of many Democrats.  Please recall that after "9-11", is was the "political fashion" to look "tough on terrorists" - and both Republicans and Democrats took part ! !  (In very many instances, Texas Congressman Ron Paul, M.D. was the SOLE voice opposing these infringements on the Constitution and Bill of Rights.)

SECOND, the deficit is the result of BOTH parties. The politicians give away "goodies" to their constituents in order to get re-elected -- and it works superbly.

THIRD, the cuurent economic downturn was caused by the FEDERAL RESERVE. It alone control the money supply and the ineterst rates it charges banks and that banks that charge each other. It no longer even allows Congress, much less the general public, to know how many dollars are in circulation (called "M3"). The Federal Reserve just keeps releasing more and more dollars into the system - and the more dollars, the less each dollar is worth in buying power.

Inflation is NOT caused by producers and retailers increasing prices. Inflation is caused by the Federal Reserve dumping more dollars into the system, so that each dollar is worth less in terms of its buying power. A gold nugget can buy a lot of apples because gold is fairly rare. But imagine if gold nuggets suddenly, steadily and rapidly kept increasing in supply (by people merely picking them up off the street). Soon a gold nugget would not buy even one apple!!  And NOT because the apple increased in price, but because the gold nugget, with more and more available all the time, decreased in its buying power.

INFLATION is NOT an increase in price of apples or any other product ot service; inflation is a decrease in the buying power of the currency (whether dollars or gold nuggets) due to an OVER-SUPPLY of that currency.

  3. All the Patriot Act really does is take already-existing laws allowing for expanded law enforcement powers and extend them to terrorist acts.

The Patriot Act has not diminished American liberties; the Patriot Act has helped to defend American liberties.
