Should I feed the babies or will the mom?

Do I have to give the babies water?

Do I have to feed the mom anything different, or can she stay with her normal seed diet?

I've seen alot of baby bird feeding stuff, and I'm worried that I will have to feed the babies myself!

  1. You just let the mom feed the babies. She knows what to do :]

Yes, they do need water. Just leave a little bit of fresh water in a bowl and they'll do the rest.

The mom only eats seeds, Nothing else.

Give them some toys to play with in the cage! They'll be more active that way!

  2. allow the parents to feed the babies you can handle them the day they are born and  play with them  just do it in baby steps like three mintues put them back , increase the time as they get older , offer mom and dad fresh fruits vegs and  pellets and seeds , they will take care of the rest , but touching the babies  and having the parents abonded them is un true , i have 25 parakeets born here at one time and i handled each and every one from the day they were born , they make great pets that way they learn  that people are good and there wont be any trust issues ..

  3. Let mom do it. Just make sure that there is food and water available to her.

  4. No you don't handle them at all or the mother could abandon them, parakeets are known to kill their babies if you handle them too young or too much. Let the parents feed the babies and learn how to be parents, wait 3 weeks then look into the box at the babies who have feathers, then and only then should you take them out for hand feeding if you want them to turn out tamed. And even then they may not tamed up. In the mean time EDUCATE YOURSELF on how to hand feed them properly.

  5. You must see, after it is hatched, if the mum feeds them, let her handle everyhting.

if she does not, you must feed them, yesm including water.

you don't need to feed the mum anything special.
