If Brittain has a king (and only a king) does the anthem change to ''God Save the King'' or some other anthem they have in store, or does it stay the same?

  1. First I hope your not British because you need to learn how to spell B-R-I-T-A-I-N.  Just goes to God Save the King.

  2. I know what you mean, it might not have the same affect. But the first answerer is correct, "King" simply replaces "Queen".

  3. well obviously. why would sing God save the queen when your queen has a... well u know what i mean. it would simply change to God save the king

  4. It will become as follows (as of course it was before the reign of the present Queen, when her father was King):

    God save our gracious King

    Long live our noble King

    God save our King.

    Send him victorious

    Happy and glorious

    Long may he reign.

    Thy choicest gifts in store,

    On him be pleased to pour;

    Long may he reign:

    May he defend our laws,

    And ever give us cause

To sing with heart and voice

    God save the King.

there is no mention of a just leader etc in the British national anthem.

  5. By just one word!  Queen becomes KING, and that is not the British national anthem!!!

  6. Yes.  The word "Queen" becomes "King".

    .

  7. The original anthem was 'God Save The King' and it was changed when Elizabeth took the throne. If she is succeeded by a male, then it will revert to God Save The King

  8. As the song was written as 'God Save the King,' it would actually be changed BACK to the original.  It has only been CHANGED to QUEEN while there is a queen heading up the country.  As, if you look at history, this is really quite a rare circumstance, you can see that it really is rather rare to hear queen.

Oddly, your attitude towards the difference between what the words are, and how they make you feel, are coming from your own subconscious.

  9. God Save the Queen, or God Save the King, is an anthem used in a number of Commonwealth realms. The title of the song (King or Queen) varies with the s*x of the reigning monarch, and so it now uses "Queen", though "King" has been historically more common. In countries not previously part of the British Empire the tune of "God Save the Queen" has also been used as the basis for different patriotic songs, though still generally connected with royal ceremony. The words of the song, like its title, are fitted to the gender of monarch, with "King" replacing "Queen", "he" replacing "she", and so forth, when a king reigns.

  10. When we get around to sacking the whole bang show of them then we wont need a bleeding national anthem

  11. The only change to the anthem is the word "King."Everything else is the same.

  12. yes it does--the wording changes to reflect the gender of the monarch

  13. yes, it will be 'God save the King' when we have a king again. I believe the song was originally sung in the reign of King George II.
