Question:

When Burton uses the term "feel" to rate a snowboard, what exactly are they rating?

Ie. the custom x has a feel of 7. The vapor, has a feel of 6. What exactly is they referring to? Secondly how is this rated?

  1. I would guess how the board rides on the snow.

    But that depends on where you board too...

    In the West, you got powder

    in the East, you got slush

    But I think it's probably the vibrations of the snow you feel which depends how stiff or loose your ride is.  With a park board, your gonna feel every little part of the mountain when you bomb down the mountain because its loose.

    With a freeride, because it's so stiff, you don't feel as much vibration.  That's also why you have better control while bombing it down the mountain on a freeride.


  2. the rating goes form a scale of 1 - 10...it shows how DAMP (1) or STIFF (10) the board is...different riding styles require different stiffness...as for park and pipe you wanna have a damper board, somewhere in the 3-5 area...6-7 good for freestyle boards and 7 and up for all-mountain and groomers, carving etc.
